A brief history of floorball in Milton Keynes.....

The Milton Keynes Phantoms were formed in 2001 by a group of friends who wanted to try this 'new' sport.  Within a year, they had somehow entered themselves into the South East league and a very inexperienced team was now playing against some very good opposition. But, with an amazing team spirit we began to make a good name for ourselves.  We continued to play at this level over the next few years whilst always trying to promote the sport and bring in new faces to our club. By 2006 we had 3 players train with the Great Britain squad.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of first team players, the club had to take a break from competitive play for a few years.

We reformed in May 2010 with a core of players that remained from our previous team.  We are continually trying to promote Floorball within the local area and are working with both Milton Keynes College and Leon School to do this.  We have slowly built our club back up to competition level again with a team mixed of both male and female players of all levels.

In 2013 the club decided to have a 2nd team and with that promoted the club at floorballMK with the MK Phantoms being the first team and the MK Shadows being the 2nd team of the city. With the growth of regular players the club 2 teams playing in leagues for the 2nd season and for the first time both with their own kits.

The club has started the foundations of a very good future. and are progressing well along our 5 year plan.
Now entering our 2nd year of the 5 year plan. We have created a strong committee and the club is accelerating forwards both on and off the rink towards our goals.

The future.....

Our long term aim here at the Milton Keynes Phantoms is to promote Floorball within the schools and colleges in Buckinghamshire.  Floorball is growing worldwide at an extremely fast rate and has now been recognised by the International Olympic Committee. This is leading to the very real possibility of Floorball being part of the 2020 summer olympic games!!  When this time comes, we are aiming for Milton Keynes to be at the very top of the game in England and supplying players and coaches to the national team. Milton Keynes is the perfect place to help develop Floorball and with the work floorballMK are putting in, this is very much a possibility.

Our aim is to get as many players along to our club to try this wonderful sport as possible. We have slowly got a strong core of players and are attracting some very good young players to the club. We are sure that once you have tried Floorball you will never want to give it up.  We currently have a mixture of men, women, old and young players at our club and the atmosphere is very friendly.

If you are new to Floorball we have some very experienced players to help you develop. We have One GB player, Three Great Britain under 19 players, Four Great Britain trialists, and one former England international.

You will be made to feel very welcome at our club
