Floorball MK were in action again this weekend with second team the MK Shadows taking part in an 8 team tournament in Birmingham. The Shadows went into the tournament looking to put into practice what they had been doing in training and this is what they did. Finishing second in their first group after 6 games the Shadows went on to play a further 6 games against much harder opponents. Despite tired legs starting to settle in the team continued to fight on and went into the final game with a chance of finishing second, however up against the London Tiger Sharks the Sharks were out for revenge after narrowly losing to the Shadows earlier in the day. Despite fighting to the final whistle it wasn’t to be the win the Shadows hoped for. All this said the MK Shadows finished in 4th place overall, better than hoped for at the beginning of the day and a fantastic result. The teams’ mentality throughout the day was a credit to everyone involved and the teamwork and enthusiasm was continuously demonstrated on the rink. Coach Mark Sleight made the following observation of the day’s action: “Probably the happiest bench I’ve ever been on - even when we were not winning!!” The MK Shadows are Floorball MK’s second team and whilst made up of several experienced players also consist of players new to the sport, a couple of which played their first competitive games for Floorball MK at this tournament. The weekends display of teamwork and determination has only fuelled the whispers amongst the other teams of the force that is Floorball MK and the impact they are having this season in the UKFF League. Shadows and indeed Floorball MK are always on the lookout for new players so why not come and check us out for free.
